Joy Music - Not just for Christmastime

Joymosa Blog Post - Joy Music Not just for Christmastime

In a previous blog post, I gave you a playlist with 10 Songs of Joy to jam to get you in a joyful mood. Here's why I picked the songs "Joy to the World" and "Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy," and why I think you might enjoy them, too.

Joy to the World - Whitney Houston (from Preacher's Wife Soundtrack)

Sure, it is a song about the birth of the savior Jesus that we hear during Christmastime. But, when I listen to this song in, say, July, I hear this song as a celebration of life.  It is a proclamation that joy will come to the world on any given day.

Listen to this song and imagine angels in heaven, floating amongst the clouds, with sun rays lighting up their faces. They sit above all the worries of the world as Whitney sings with her majestic voice. It's a lullaby, luring us into a state of calm amid chaos. Then, the band of angels parades in to shout joyful harmonies. Joy to the World!

Happy, Happy Joy, Joy - Ren & Stimpy

The song "Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy" comes from a 90's cartoon, Ren & Stimpy. I'm so glad this site helped me take a trip back down memory lane!

Stimpy, the ultimate inventor, invented a Happy Helmet to control Ren's happiness. Ren, who loves being angry, tests out the helmet and is instantly happy. He's enjoying doing nice things for Stimpy, like cleaning and ironing. Then, they dance and sing to "Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy." This song is so infectiously silly and fun that I bounce up and down every time I hear it myself.

Imagine if that happy helmet did exist, though? Would you ever take it off?
